Joint Alternative Report by CAJ and NWMF to the UN Committee on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination on the UK’s compliance with the International Convention on all forms of Racial Discrimination (ICERD)

CAJ and the North West Migrants Forum submitted this joint Alternative Report to the UN Committee on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination on the UK’s compliance with the International Convention on all the Elimination of forms of Racial Discrimination (113th session).
Our submission to UNCERD focused on three key areas:
- Reforms of the Human Rights Act (HRA) and Northern Ireland post-Brexit safeguards (Articles 2 and 6)
- Racial profiling within the (UK/Ireland) Common Travel Area (CTA) (Articles 2 and 5. General Recommendations 31 and 36)
- The State response to paramilitary racist violence and intimidation in Northern Ireland (Articles 2-6. General Recommendations 15 and 35).
CAJ Immigration Solicitor, Úna Boyd and CAJ-NWMF Joint Project Research and Campaigns Worker, Shannon Doherty provided additional evidence to UNCERD during the 113th session on the UK and Northern Ireland’s compliance with ICERD in Geneva.
