CAJ signs open letter to the PM on no-deal Brexit
August 29, 2019CAJ has joined forces with over 85 civil society organisations to express grave concerns about the possibility of a no-deal Brexit in an open letter addressed to UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
Together with organisations from across Northern Ireland, England, Scotland and Wales, we have called on the Prime Minister to urgently engage with our concerns about leaving the EU without a deal on 31 October 2019.
Signatories of the letter have serious concerns that a no-deal exit will be a direct threat to the peace process in Northern Ireland. We also fear it will lead to a regression of rights and standards, increased legal uncertainty, and economic shock.
Organisations, charities, campaign groups, membership bodies and community groups from across the UK are coming together to raise concerns about the uncertainty civil society face as no agreement has been finalised. See more in the video below from some of our members: pic.twitter.com/v32oC6I48u

The development of the letter was facilitated by the Brexit Civil Society Alliance, with support from its sister projects in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. The Alliance does not take a position on what direction Brexit should take, but works to ensure that the Brexit process delivers on the following three principles: open and accountable law-making; a high standards UK; and no governance gap after Brexit.
