What is the Mobuoy Community Inquiry?
Evidence and Submissions
- Public Call for Evidence: Launched November 2025, closing end of March 2026.
- Evidence can be submitted via:
- Online portal or dedicated email.
- Written statements and documentation.
- Testimony collected through community events.
- Submissions will be reviewed and prioritised jointly by CAJ and PILS, based on credibility, relevance and representation.
- Witnesses: Will include community members, technical experts, journalists, NGOs and (where possible) officials or agency representatives.
- Panellists: Based on the community-identified priorities, Panellists will be selected with relevant expertise in environmental law and justice, public safety and/or human rights backgrounds.
Outputs
- Regular Stakeholder Updates on Project Progress – throughout Inquiry
- Two-Day Community Hearing – summer/autumn 2026.
- Panel Rulings and Recommendations – published as a final report (autumn 2026).
- Public Summary and Advocacy Toolkit – accessible briefing for communities, media and policymakers.
Deliverables
- Mobuoy Community Inquiry ‘Cheat Sheet’: Basic facts, timeline and information related to Mobuoy
- Regular Stakeholder Updates on Progress: Keeping Mobuoy relevant, in the ‘public eye’ and encouraging increased community participation
- Community Hearing Findings & Recommendations (signed by panel members).
- Final Report (CAJ-led, in consultation with partners).
- Archival Repository (CAJ) for materials collected.
- Media and Public Engagement Outputs (CAJ & The Gathering).
Review and Amendment
The project schedule, along with its Terms of Reference, may be reviewed and amended by consensus among the partner organisations as planning progresses. Amendments must preserve the independence, transparency and fairness of the process.
