Equality Duty Enforcement Project (EDEP) – A narrative report 2018 to 2021
The Equality Duty Enforcement Project (EDEP) was a three-year project launched by CAJ in December 2017, with the overarching aim of enhancing the level of understanding and awareness of the equality duty (‘Section 75’) as a vehicle for challenging policies in Northern Ireland that have adverse impacts on protected groups. One of the primary goals of the project was to assist members of the Equality Coalition (which is co-convened by CAJ and UNISON) in taking forward equality scheme complaints.
This narrative report examines the interventions taken by the EDEP across the three years it was active and takes an overall ‘stocktake’ of the effectiveness of the statutory equality duty
