Submission to European Commission Against Racism and Intolerance (ECRI) Monitoring Mission to the UK

In November 2023, CAJ were invited to give evidence to the European Commission Against Racism and Intolerance (ECRI) as part of their monitoring mission to the United Kingdom. CAJ presented evidence reflecting our research, lobbying and campaign work in three key areas:
- The State response to racist housing intimidation
- The State response to racist expression in public space
- Racial profiling in selective passport checks in and out of Northern Ireland
CAJ made three robust recommendations for consideration by the Commissioners which can be read here.
About the European Commission Against Racism and Intolerance (ECRI):
ECRI is a human rights monitoring body which tackles racism, discrimination, xenophobia, antisemitism, and intolerance across Europe. ECRI prepares regular reports and makes policy recommendations to member States with a view to combatting racism and intolerance at a national level.
