CAJ submitted evidence to the Council of Europe Committee of Experts (COMEX) on the European Charter for Regional or Minority Languages (ECRML) during their 6th monitoring cycle in the UK and the Isle of Man. Our response focuses on commentary on the UK’s commitments in Northern Ireland (NI) under the Charter, namely in relation to Irish and Ulster Scots. This submission covers:
• The Legal Framework for implementation of the Charter in Northern Ireland.
• Compliance with Parts II and III of the Charter in relation to the Irish language.
• Compliance with Part II of the Charter in relation to Ulster Scots.
